After the week of announcing the roll-out of Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its first generation ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5, and ZenFone 6 in china as well as for global users. Asus had rolled-out the update of Android on Wednesday.
Last month, Asus delayed the Android 5.0 Lollipop update citing the issues of verification for its first-generation ZenFone smartphones. The android update is available for download at the company’s Support Helpdesk Page for Asus ZenFone 4 (A400CG and A400CXG), ZenFone 5 (A500CG and A501CG), and ZenFone 6 (A600CG and A601CG), for which the users are required to factory reset in devices and are recommended to backup important data before attempting the update process.
Asus has listed that the Android update would bring changes for ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5, and ZenFone 6 handsets, along with Material Design UI and other changes the update offers. The update also includes the removal of pre-installed apps such as battery widget, CMClient, and Magic Smoke Wallpapers, Movie Studio, Cloud Print, PhotoFrame widget.
The changes offered in Android Lollipop update are a new lock screen with removed standalone wallpaper and weather details for 1GB RAM variant only; a change to the quick settings/ recent app layouts; revamped Dialler and Contacts; removal of in-call animation and cover; addition of My Ocean wallpaper, Day Scene Live Wallpaper, TripAdvisor, and Asus Auto-start Service Manager app, and auto-start service manager, as well as improved VOIP phone call function and music function.
The LTE-variant of the ZenFone 5 was the only smartphone that had received the Android 5.0 Lollipop update before the Asus’ announcement of the global rollout last week.
