Asus Zenfone 4, Zenfone 5, Zenfone 6 Users to Receive Android Lollipop Update

Asus Zenfone 5The delayed Android Lollipop update for Asus Zenfone 4, Zenfone 5, Zenfone 6 users will get their update. Last month, Asus citing the issues in verification had stalled the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the first generation Zenfone smartphones. Although, Asus ZenFone 5 was the only smartphone that received the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, until now.

Asus has started rolling out OTA (over-the-air) Android Lollipop update for Asus Zenfone 4, Zenfone 5, and Zenfone 6 smartphones. Now, Asus users can also download the update via the official Asus Zentalk forum.

The company has cited some of the changes after the Android 5.0 Lollipop update on Asus ZenFone series that includes scraping of some of the pre-installed apps such as Movie Studio, Cloud Print, CMClient, Magic Smoke Wallpapers, and battery widget, PhotoFrame widget.

The Android Lollipop update includes a new lock screen and standalone wallpaper and weather details were removed for 1GB RAM variant only. The update has also changed the quick settings/recent app layouts and revamped Dialler and Contacts. The update bunged out in-call animation and cover but added My Ocean wallpaper, Day Scene Live Wallpaper, TripAdvisor, and Asus Auto-start Service Manager App, and auto-start service manager. The Android update has also improved VOIP phone call function and music function.

However, the current rollout of Android 5.0 Lollipop update contradicts Asus India’s claims that were made in late last month in a Facebook post stated that the company divulged 3-4 months of delay in Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the ZenFone 5.
