BlackBerry is all set to introduce a sleek yet stylish smartphone, the Leap in India next week. Many of you would be just waiting for the device to get launched in India, let us inform you about its price that is confirmed by our sources to be at Rs. 21,490.
BlackBerry Leap sports an impressive 5.0-inch 720p full-touch display along with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. A 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 chipset powers the BalckBerry mobile phone along with Adreno 225 GPU and 2GB of RAM. BlackBerry Leap offers 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.
The smartphone runs BlackBerry OS 10.3.1 and features an excellent 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera. BlackBerry Leap comes power packed with a 2800mAh battery, which, the company boasts of offering up to 25 hours of ‘mixed usage’. However, the mobile phone does not support TDD-LTE Band 40 that’s used by current 4G networks in India, though it is compatible with FDD-LTE Band 3, which is expected to be used by some operators in the future.
BlackBerry Leap was introduced during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) event happened in Barcelona earlier this year. The brand said at the time it plans to introduce two more smartphones over the course of the next months, both offering a physical keyboard.
Whilst the BlackBerry Leap is a mid-range device, one high-end smartphone seems to be in the pipeline that will be introduced later this year. This mobile phone will be featuring “a dual curve all touch display” with a keyboard right behind the slide. The BlackBerry Chief Executive John Chen told media in Barcelona “We don’t have a code name for it, but I call it The Slide.” While he also mentioned that the device will be launched sometime in this year only, without giving a specific date.
