Tata Teleservices Limited and New Delhi Municipal Council have joined hands to form a partnership in bringing forth free Wi-Fi connectivity to the general public at Connaught Place, as part of their corporate social responsibility. The Wi-Fi service installed here is the largest in India. At a given time, the service can be availed by 5,000 people with a satisfactory speed of 512 Kbps. The first 20 minutes would be entirely free after which recharge cards can be purchased in various denominations.
To access the Wi-Fi service you need to adhere to the following steps to enjoy the luxury:
– You must have an authentic valid mobile number registered officially
– You will receive a onetime password (OTP) at the spot when you try to access the Wi-Fi
– After this, apply the password to login and enjoy the service
Thereafter, if you want to browse further and want to use the Wi-Fi connectivity for a lengthier period of time, you can get the recharge cards online or at any Tata Docomo retail outlets. They are available at Rs 10 for a 30 minute slot, Rs 20 for 60 minutes and Rs. 50 for 180mins.
This partnership has laid the path for digitization within the country. Though it is only a baby step towards taking this idea to places all over the country, nonetheless, it is a step taken in the right direction.
