A new Canvas series smartphone was launched by Micromax at an event in New Delhi. Micromax Canvas Silver 5 launched at a price of Rs 17,999 and will be available for sale from the first week of July.
It’s worth noting that the Canvas Silver 5 is 5.1mm thick, which the company said to have maintained “end-to-end” on the handset without any bump. Similarly, other competitors like Vivo X5Max have a 4.75mm thick and features a bump in the rear camera; Oppo R5 measures 4.85mm thick and weighs just 97grams.
Micromax Canvas Silver 5 also supports 4G LTE and Canvas Knight 2 comes along with Airtel’s Double 4G Data offer which doubles the amount of 4G data for any consumer. A new services policy has introduced by the company for Canvas Silver 5 dubbed as ‘M! On-site care’ that vows to consumers a doorstep pickup and drop in 7 days.
The Canvas Silver 5 is based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and comes with single SIM card. The handset features a 4.8-inch (720×1280 pixels) HD AMOLED display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The device is powered by a 64-bit 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor coupled with 2GB of DDR RAM and the storage consists of 16GB inbuilt memory but doesn’t support expandable storage. Although, the no feature of expandable storage support may be a negative aspect but, the main USP of the handset is its slimness.
An 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with Sony IMX219 CMOS sensor with a ‘blue glass filter’ and LED flash are included in the device, along with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera on board. The Canvas Sliver 5 is backed by a 2000mAh battery with the company claiming improved battery backup and the smartphone comes in Gold and Black colour variants.
Reportedly, Hugh Jackman will be promoting the new Canvas Silver 5 smartphone and the first ad expected to go on-air in July.
