Google has updated its app and introduced Google Now on Tap for Marshmallow Preview testers, along with the revamped app drawer. It also includes a complete section of predicted apps under the search bar. Moto X Play owners enjoy even more important changes.
The latest version of Google App allows the Google Now to be the default launcher on Motorola’s smartphones. And it works significantly smoother on the Moto X Play. The past two version of the GoogleApp lagged, but the new launcher no longer lags and skips frames opening up the app drawer.
These performance enhancements go a long way towards making the Moto X Play a more usable phone. The frequent animation stuttering was one of the annoying things with that handset. And the launcher eliminated these issues which make the Moto X Play more enjoyable device to use.
The update doesn’t bring any improvement anything outside of Google Now or its associated launcher. We still face the occasional lagging when dragging down the notification shade, but there’s no denying it’s a big improvement. And it underscores the importance of launcher performance in how quick a phone feels.
