Following the OnePlus 2 success, the Chinese smartphone maker is intended to launch a new smartphone called OnePlus X. According to a report by GizmoChina, the smartphone is expected to launch by the end of this month.
Apparently, the OnePlus X to have a 5-inch full HD display and will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset. The same chipset was last seen in the OnePlus One.
Corroborating with the statement of co-founder, Carl Pei, OnePlus would have only one flagship this year. And the company also plans to enter the budget segment of sub-Rs 20k.
Renders claim that the OnePlus X is expected to have a fresh design and will sport a dual rear camera setup. The handset will also have a circular fingerprint scanner and a speaker which will have a more pronounced grill. However, there is no official confirmation whether Renders’ design will be the final one.
Grapevine suggests that the pricing to be $249 region, and when it is converted to rupees, it comes around Rs. 16, 500. If the price is confirmed along with sensible invite systems, this phone could really prove to be promising given OnePlus’ history. Of course, there is a competition the phone will face from incumbents such as the Xiaomi Mi 4 and Motorola Moto X Play, among others.
Earlier in an interview with ET Tech, Vikas Agarwal, general manager of OnePlus India said, “We’re introducing a new device by the end of this year. Diwali would be the ideal time, but next quarter for sure. It would be a global launch, but India will be the biggest focus.”
