Samsung Galaxy A8, Slimmest Smartphone of the Flagship Launched in China

samsung_galaxy_a8_front-back_side1Samsung has launched its slimmest smartphone, the Galaxy A8 in China, which is 5.9mm thick. However, Galaxy A8 isn’t the slimmest smartphone in the market. Gionee Elife S7, Oppo R5 and Vivo X5Max which are 5.5mm, 4.85mm, and 4.75mm thickness respectively. The handset comes in Black, White, and Gold Colour variants and the handsets are only available in China.

Samsung Galaxy A8 runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and TouchWiz on top of it. The handset features two SIM slots and one of which also acts as a microSD card. The feature enables the users to get either a Dual-SIM support without microSD card storage or a single-SIM support with microSD card expansion.

The handset has a similar look of Galaxy S6 from the front and the side of the handset has a metal bezel. The device also supports a fingerprint sensor placed on the Home button. As compared to its predecessor Samsung Galaxy A7, the Galaxy A8 has a bigger battery and a better camera. The handset boasts a 5.7-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) resolution Super AMOLED display. The device is powered by 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615processor (four Cortex-A53 crores at 1.5GHz + four Cortex-A53 crores at 1.0GHz), and includes the Adreno 405 GPU for handling graphics along with 2GB RAM. The smartphone comes in two storage variants – 16GB and 32GB inbuilt storage and also has support for microSD card (up to 128GB).

The camera feature of Galaxy A8 includes a 16-megapixel autofocus rear camera with optical image stabilisation, f/1.9 aperture, a wide-angle lens (120 degrees) and LED flash. Similar to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, the Galaxy A8’s camera can also be activated quickly by pressing the home button twice. The device also includes a front-facing 5MP camera and the connectivity options include 4G FDD LTE, TDD LTE with Band 40 (2300MHz) support available in India, Bluetooth 4.1, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS, Glonass, Beidou, NFC, and USB 2.0.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 is packed by a 3050mAh battery which is slated to give 304 hours of standby time (4G TDD LTE + 2G GSM), and the device measures a 158×76.8×5.9mm and weighs 10g.
