Samsung Galaxy S6 Active smartphone is exclusively available on AT&T in the US. AT&T website states that the device will be available for sale from June 12, via the company’s physical retail store.
Although, Samsung is yet to divulge the price of the handset, but it mentioned the installment details of the device, $0 down payment on AT&T Next for $23.17 per month with 30 device payments on Next 24, $28.96 per month at 24 payments on Next 18, or $34.75 per month at 20 payments on Next 12. The availability of the device outside US has not been revealed.
Customers are also offered a limited time offers that includes a couple of deals such as Galaxy Tab 4.8.0 is offered free along with the smartphone with a two-year agreement or users can also buy the Samsung Wireless Charging Pad for 50 percent off with Next or a two-year agreement.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Active and the original flagship shares very similar features and comes with IP68 rating that makes it water resistant, dust proof, and shock resistant. The handset also has US Mil-STD 810G standards for withstanding viberation, temperature extremes, humidity, and high altitude. As expected, the smartphone doesn’t feature fingerprint sensor, unlike Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge where it was placed at the home button. The smartphone features three physical buttons – home, back and multi-window.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Active runs on Android 5.02 Lollipop version and is powered by Samsung’s octa-core 64-bit processor that is Exynos 7420 processor. The device sports 5.1-inch Quad HD (1440×2560 pixels). The rear camera of the handset features 16MP with LED flash, while the front camera has 5MP on the board.
However, the company has not stated that the Galaxy S6 Active is likely to feature a slew of camera features such as quick launch, tracking AF, auto real-time HDR, f/1.9, IR detect white balance, low light video, high clear zoom, virtual shot, slow motion, fast motion, pro mode, and selective focus, like the flagship Galaxy S6. 32GB of inbuilt storage is also included.
A 3500mAh battery is placed in the handset with wireless charging clubbed along with Ultra Power saving mode and fast charging tech. The handset features some “Activity Zone” such as quick launching compass, flashlight, stopwatch, and some pre-installed apps like the Samsung Knox security framework are also included.
President and COO & Mobile Division GM of Samsung Electronics America, Tim Baxter, said during the launch that the Galaxy S6 active delivers consumers with high durability coupled with the powerful performance of Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone. He said, “The result is a smartphone that brings ruggedized capabilities and water resistance coupled with the camera, battery and design features that empower our consumers and business users to do more.”
