At an event in New Delhi, Xiaomi announced two of their much awaited products- Redmi 2 and Mi Pad. Of them, Redmi 2 is the star of the show. Both Manu Jain, India Head, Xiaomi and Hugo Barra, Vice President, Xiaomi were present at the event to launch the device India. The device is surely seen as a reply to the recently launched Moto E. Here are the Top 5 Features of Redmi 2 that I find to be the best in the segment.
Xiaomi has worked hard to make the Redmi 2 even better. Xiaomi has managed to fit in the same size of screen as it was in Redmi 1S. They have trimmed down the bezels and have made the device a lot thinner. Redmi 2 also has a matte finish back with soft touch for better grip.
Xiaomi has also bumped up the processing power of the device too. Redmi 2 comes with 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor that supports 4G connectivity and it also features 1 GB of RAM. The processor is very good in performance and is much above the competition. Xiaomi will also launch a Limited Edition of the device with 2GB Ram and 16GB internal memory.
Xiaomi Redmi 2 has dual-SIM card slots. The different thing about the feature is that both the slots support 4G SIM. Unlike any of the devices in this budget, none of them have such feature. Mostly devices come with one one 4G enabled slot and the other one sits with 2G.
Xiaomi has increased the battery capacity of the device to 2200 mAh, which should give optimum battery life. Xiaomi Redmi 2 also supports Quick Charge 1.0 which is again first in its category. The feature will help charge the battery 20% faster than Redmi 1S.
Redmi 2 comes with Android 4.4 KitKat with MIUI 5 on top. Xiaomi has promised to bring Android 5.0 Lollipop soon to the device. MIUI 6 is one of the best features in Redmi 2. The OS feels refined with better features and there are no lags experienced. Every app in the UI has been updated to bring some of the finest features to the budget smartphone. This makes the OS best performing in the segment even without the latest update.
