A slim and feature-rich tablet gives a great feel in hand, and offers a great deal of power packed experience. Till date, a number of tablets have been launched in India, but only a few have shown their real strength in the market. Nexus 9 and iPad Mini have set their own standards for performance lovers, but now an affordable yet powerful device is in town to compete them. It is the Xiaomi Mi Pad! Launched at a price of Rs. 12,999, this tablet gives an impression to take on strongest contenders in the industry without any trouble.
The first impressions of this device at the event were pretty charming. Its glossy frame made of plastic gave the look of a supersized iPhone 5C. It’s available in a wide array of colors, and boasts rounded edges to give a nice and comfortable feel in hand. Compared to iPad and other tablets in the market, the build quality isn’t too good. Although, for a price like 13k, it’s a great deal from Xiaomi.
The 7.9-inch display of this tablet offers the same resolution of 2048 x 1536 like the iPad Mini. Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, it offers good viewing angles, and looks great for standard usage. The display quality of this device definitely looked supreme indoors!
Xiaomi powered this tablet with the Nvidia Tegra K1 processor, which includes a 192-core Kepler GPU and 2GB RAM. The exact performance of this device will be highlighted in the detailed review, but specs give a clear understanding that it’s again a power packed deal from the Chinese company. Inbuilt storage on Mi Pad is 16GB, but it can be further expanded to 128 GB via MicroSD card!
In addition to this, Mi Pad also boasts an 8-megapixel rear camera with a Sony sensor for recording full-HD videos, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with OmniVision sensor. The image quality from this tablet was pretty good, and other camera features of MIUI 6 were also included like the selfie timer, cloud camera roll and much more!
Mi Pad runs Android KitKat out-of-the-box optimized with Xiaomi’s latest update of MIUI 6. The heavily modified version of the OS offers many new features and feels much like iOS. Most of the core apps and widgets were optimized for the Tablet, but overall the experience of using this device was pretty good.
At a price of Rs. 12,999, Mi Pad is a great deal from Xiaomi. The device packs high-end features like Nexus 9, and yet costs half of its price. After giving a look to this tablet, it’s must to say that Xiaomi has done an incredible job by launching this tablet in the budget oriented Indian market! From built quality to camera performance, everything has been kept perfect by the company!
As Compared to smartphones, Tablets haven’t been so successful in India, but if someone’s going to change this fact, it’s going to be Xiaomi for sure!
